immediate payment
Is immediate payment now required when a BIN sells following an accepted offer? Immediate payment has been required as long as I can remember WHEN THERE IS NO OFFER but payment could be delayed when an offer has been accepted.

OP2 years agoThx. If that's the case, my buyer this morning was mistaken when she paid... she said eBay required IP [immediate payment]. I have never required IP for BINs following an accepted offer ... hoping they may see another of my items they want ... then combine their payment. Yikes! May need to pursue with eBay to be sure of their current rule.

eBay announced in late September that most Buyers would be required to pay immediately if a Seller accepted their Best Offer. This is for listings that include "Best Offer".

OP2 years agoThx. Guess I missed that BUT ... "most"? I'm still not sure especially since I'm awaiting payment for a recently 'sold BIN' [with an offer] but my buyer this morning [BIN with an offer] was required to immed pay. Maybe there's a difference between seller's offer & buyer's offer ...?

·2 years agoI think it’s being phased in. Not all buyers are “inâ€.

From the 2024 Winter Seller Update from Feb. 2024
"In recent months, we’ve made improvements to reduce unpaid item cases for Buy It Now and Best Offer sales, which has led to an increase in successful payments. Based on your feedback, we’re extending these improvements to seller-initiated offers. When potential buyers are interested in your offer, they’ll be taken directly to checkout and, in order to accept the offer and secure the item, they’ll need to successfully complete payment. "

OP2 years agoAH!! I'm just going to revise my formats & verbiage to eliminate any thoughts about other than 'eBay requires immediate payment' [most of the time ...] Ha! TY!

Check your Buyer Requirements page -- the option should appear there at the bottom. eBay may have enabled the feature by default, even if you never explicitly chose it.

Mentor2 years agoIt is up to the seller now.
eBay allows sellers to require a payment method in advance when making an offer so that the offer can be accepted and paid immediately.
Too many buyers were making offers and then not paying.
