I'm okay with Chinese products if I buy from an American seller. But I was lied to.
I want to understand how to cancel a sale that was fraudulently misrepresented as being from New Jersey, when in fact, the seller is based in China.
I looked for cues as to the location of the seller and found nothing. That proves a careful plan of deception by the seller, with Ebay's complicity, for the purpose of tricking American buyers into working with Chinese suppliers who can't find an American seller to represent them. As an Ebay buyer, I deserve an honest seller feedback number to rely on, not one that has been gamed or faked by a manufacturer creating and spoofing fake sales and deliveries.
The crux of Ebay has always been to weed out liars, fakes and scams to let legit buyers get together with legit sellers. Allowing foreign manufacturers to create phony sellers with phony American addresses to misrepresent themselves will be the ruin of Ebay.
What can I do to cancel within 24 hours, if the shipper says it's been shipped? Will cancelling hurt my feedback as a buyer? How can I schedule a call with a live Ebay person to get these questions answered.

Mentor1 year agoProbably the best way to deal with sellers that misrepresent item location is to avoid them. The "US only" item location filter selects items that are listed as being in the United States; however, as you have seen, not every seller that lists items in the US ships from the US as they should.
Before ordering you should check the estimated delivery dates -- that is a good indication of how far away items actually ship from. Also, going to a seller's profile page or feedback page will tell you where the seller's account was registered. Although some overseas sellers do use US warehouses to ship their items (and some registered US-sellers may employ overseas drop-shippers), if a seller is registered overseas, that raises the likelihood of an item shipping from outside the US, particularly for multiple quantity commodity items. Checking seller feedback will often reveal if there are problems with long shipping times, canceled orders or other supply chain warning signs.
