I'm a seller who just issued a return
I'm a seller who just issued a refund per a buyers request. I think I made a big mistake in issuing the refund too early as the buyer hasn't sent the item back to me yet. He still has plenty of time to return it per policy, but if he decides not to send it I think I may have potentially lost getting the item back. Should I have waited to issue the refund when I got the item back? If he doesn't send it back do I have any recourse as I believe the funds may already be back to him? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

OP1 year agoThanks, I was able to refund the initial shipping and I mentioned that to him in my latest message. No response so far. I could kick myself, I guess I can say I learned from this.

Mentor1 year agoSometimes lessons are painfully learned. I get it. Most of us have been there at some point. I wish you nothing but the best for the future and I have my fingers crossed that the buyer will respond positively to your request.

You will likely never see the item come back to you. Ebay does not require the seller to refund the item before they get it back. The link below helps to guide you in this process so as to keep you out of trouble.

I hope this wasn't an expensive item.

OP1 year agoThanks, it was a somewhat expensive item $270. I will still reach out to the buyer to see if he will send it back in good faith.

Mentor1 year agoIt is always worth a try. Make sure you offer to pay for the return shipping.
