Im a seller and got this message... is this real. Ive looked and looked but dont see a setting
Is this real? I'm a seller and got this message
hello, I'm reaching out because I've been attempting to purchase for a few minutes now, but I consistently encounter an error when I click the buy now button. I reached out to customer support, and they clarified that the cause of the error is linked to the setup of your account. It appears that you have configured your account in a manner that restricts new users from completing purchases, and I happen to be a new user. As a resolution, they suggested that I pass along this link to you. By doing so, you'll have the ability to enable any other user facing the same issue as me to successfully make a purchase from you, and I'll be able to proceed with my transaction as well.
“Copy the link and then paste it into the address bar of your Web Browserâ€
If you manage to uncover the suitable solution, would you mind informing me via a message? I'm fully prepared to attempt it once more

If the buyer has not yet started the purchase, you won't be able to use the "report a buyer" link. However, in eBay messages, when you open the message, there should be an "action" button at the top of the message where you can report the message. Please take advantage of that so that this person will be removed from eBay. That would also be an excellent way to get the scam link reported.
I've emailed the weblink you provided to spoof@ebay.com, which is another path for taking action against a scam site or scam message, or for simply verifying.
And, of course, the link has been reported directly to staff, who will get it over to their legal team.
Thanks again.
For others who are wondering what the link looked like, in case they encounter something similar, I've dummied up the link here:
The link leads to a mockup of an "eBay" login page where the scammers collect the seller's login credentials. If a seller has logged in, the seller should immediately change passwords, which will drop all prior connections. The seller should then look through all of the account registration and payment pages to make sure nothing has been changed.

You were wise to check. That is a scam. Report the buyer to eBay.

Also, that link is a phishing link - I suspect they'll want you to log in with your password. I'll report the site to eBay (thank you for sharing it), and I'll see if the moderators can now remove it from your post so no one accidentally goes there.
