Illicit tax
I recently purchased a silver round from a seller on Ebay and was taxed illicitly. The seller may have placed it in the wrong category. After a very long time, a representative from Ebay advises me to contact the seller and ask for a refund. In my mind, this is wrong because the seller should not have to lose money on a sale-I feel strongly against it and think Ebay should refund the seller first OR to me. What does the community think about that!

Not gonna happen. If anybody refunds you, it'll be the state where you live. They're the ones who got the money. I've heard that it's possible to get that tax refund, but you have to file some paperwork.
Check this out: https://tax.utah.gov/sales/refund-request

EBay doesn't have the money it was sent to your state.
