If a package is damaged during shipping is the responsibility one the seller to file the USPS claim
Received a package which was late and had taken some abuse/damaged via the USPS. Is the responsibility of filing the insurance claim on the seller or the buyer?
The USPS website states "Either the sender or the recipient may file a claim for insured mail that is lost, arrived damaged, or was missing contents. The person filing must have the original mailing receipt. Each claim must be filed within a certain time period and include proof of insurance, value, and damage."
I did submit photos of damage to the seller when the product was received with damage.
Provided the seller kept the receipt and had shipping insurance is the responsibility on the seller or buyer to make the claim with the USPS.

Mentor10 months agoLet the seller take care of this, but you can be cooperative if seller wants to file a claim. Regardless, open a Return Request for an ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED, damaged. Seller will pay for the return, if he wants it back, and/or refund. If no response by the fourth day, go back and ask ebay to step in. Do not close or let the case expire without doing this, if not resolved.
