As others have responded to you, eBay requires your SSN because the IRS requires eBay to have it. eBay cannot and will not forward any money to you from any sales you might have made -- not without that SSN on file. Depending on the laws of the state where you live, eBay will ultimately be required (more of those pesky laws) to send your sales payout money to your state's unclaimed property authorities. You can request the money from your state's authorities after they have it. But you'll have to prove to your state that you are "Red Wrangler"; I would not be surprised if your state will want to see your Social Security Number before they give you "your" money. So you can choose to get your money now or get your money later, and prove your identity in order to do so.

Unfortunately you will not be able to sell on eBay then. eBay is a payment processor and by law must collect your SSN and other identifying information to meet IRS and banking regulations. There is nothing that eBay can do about this requirement.

Hi @redwrangler350cary If you don't provide your SSN, you won't be able to sell on eBay. The IRS requires eBay to obtain it as they are the payment processor for any items you sell.
