I was underpaid for my sale and I could not find a live agent, all I could get were AI talkers.
Summary: barnstormer36 described a frustrating experience selling wheel rims on eBay, where they encountered issues with shipping labels and AI support. They felt underpaid due to the need to pay for additional labels themselves. golfingaddict responded by noting that the root issue was potentially a pricing miscalculation on barnstormer36's part, emphasizing the complexity of shipping heavy items and recommending better preparation before listing items.
I sold three wheel rims for 300 dollars and the buyer agreed to pay shipping. I had a problem because I had to put each in one box, but when using the eBay site it only printed three shipping labels, all with the same number. The FedEx shop only would ship one of the three. I called eBay 5–6 times to print two more and never could receive a live person, all AI, which could not respond to the ways I asked my questions. I finally did an independent search and a live person told me how to make two more labels, which I did AND PAID FOR MYSELF. Furthermore, I put my problem on this site and was told the case was called.
A. Three items at $100 each is $300 and with the buyer paying shipping, I felt the $174 credit was an underpayment. Plus, I had to pay to print the second and third label.
B. I still have several items to sell, and I am finding other sales places because I no longer trust eBay and if you are 100% AI, I want nothing to do with you. I will sell the next multiple hundreds of dollars with other means.

Mentor2 weeks ago@golfingaddict is correct. When a seller does not charge enough for shipping, that seller is responsible for paying the postage out of pocket. You are not allowed to ask the buyer for more money.

Mentor2 weeks agoYou were not underpaid.
You did not charge enough.
You cannot use one label for three packages. You should have priced them separately, or you should have estimated the cost of three labels and charged accordingly by using flat rate shipping.
Many new sellers get into a bind with this type of problem. Shipping can be tremendously complicated when you are selling heavy and bulky items.
It's important to do your research prior to listing, in fact, I always recommend that new sellers packed up the large item they want to sell and take it to the carrier PRIOR to listing the item. That way, the carrier can point out issue (box too big) and can give you pricing guidelines before you list the item
Yes, the buyer pays shipping, but they are only required to pay what you charged in the listing.
You can sell elsewhere, but until you resolve shipping concerns, you may end up in similar circumstances.
