I was the high bidder but was blocked by eBay. Is there any way to get this fixed?
eBay didn’t count the bid and instead chose to counsel me on my bidding telling me it would be easier to just pay for the item. Needless to say because eBay didn’t count my bid and instead chose to lecture me o lost the item. **bleep**. A bid is a bid. I was the highest bidder. I do t need to be lectures stupid ducking eBay. Just put my freaking bid in. I hate this stupid site. Is there any way to get the item? . I was the high bidder and on time. **bleep** **bleep** me off.

Mentor2 years agoHow interesting that there's been 3 different guesses as to what happened. Maybe the OP will return and verify the correct guess.

Mentor2 years agoI believe the OP is referring to a message that eBay puts up when a bid amount matches the buy-it-now price, warning that the item can be bought at that price. I do not recall if the message actually prevents a bid from being placed at that amount or just requires additional confirmation, but if the bid attempt comes at the end of an auction, the unexpected message might delay placing the bid until after the auction is over.
To avoid this, bid a penny less than the buy-it-now price if you do not want to buy the item outright but want to place a high bid.
Or place a lower bid earlier to remove the buy-it-now option, then bid whatever amount you want after that.

It sounds like eBay was asking you to provide ‘prepayment information’ for them to use in case you won the auction.
This was a new policy decision that eBay enacted to lessen the effects of winners not paying. [Sellers are allowed to opt out of this policy … but many aren’t aware of it yet.]
I’m very sorry the new policy prevented you from placing your bid in time. If you actually were declared the highest bidder at the end of the auction … then you would have won.

What exactly did the error message say when you tried to bid?
eBay doesn't send "lecture" messages, but they do block you from bidding when you have two or more unpaid item strikes on your account in which case they will advise that you'll need to purchase using Buy It Now with immediate payment required listings. Is that what the message was about? The reason for this block is to protect sellers from buyers who don't pay. It will take a year for an unpaid item strike to roll off you account. This is something that you agreed to when you became a member and re-agree to each time you use eBay.
Again, if the message was about something else, we'll need to know the exact wording to be able to explain it.
