I was late on sending a package. I gave the buyer a discount coupon on a additional item. Next step?

i am a little confused how to make this work. can someone kindly explain how i can solve this situation? I was late on sending the package and to make up for it i offered the buyer a coupon to use towards a additional item of his choice. Since i already have the original order packed and ready to ship what do i do? do i cancel that order and print out a new label and place both the original and new items in a new box? thanks in advance.
