I think I was scammed? Please help!
I recently purchased a camera from a new seller with (0) feedback who started their account 5 days ago. The price was a little lower than normal and seemed like a good deal. The seller claimed that the reason for that was because he didn't have sufficient limits. I also noticed the seller had increase the shipping to %40 of the total price to be able to reach the final sale price.
An hour after I purchased and paid for the item, a posting with the EXACT SAME very specific pictures popped up under a different ebay seller name, but also in the EXACT SAME item location. This posting had the same explanation for the lower-than-average price. At this point I was very suspicious but could no longer initiate an order cancelation because it was beyond the 1 hour mark.
When I contacted the seller from whom I bought the camera, I noticed that the ebay email headings were in German. The seller affirmed that he was in the United States and asked me to send him the link to the 'duplicate' posting, so he could report it. The seller is responsive but refuses to answer whether or not he actually is in possession of the item.
I tried contacting the ebay fraud hotline but could not seem to get anyone on the phone. At this point I think I just need to wait this thing out and see, but my questions to the community are:
1) What type of fraud could this be?
2) Is there is anything I should be doing in the meantime to protect myself and facilitate quick resolution in case this is fraud? Should I call my credit card agency?
Thank You for your time!
