I swear I have had bad luck with a few of my transactions lately seller claiming shipping from USA.
Seller advertises Fast and reliable. Ships from United States. Located in: Stoughton, Massachusetts, United States and now I receive Tracking number AG128826519CN this is a China post tracking #. I would of never bought it had I known it was being shipped from China. I blame eBay also for allowing this type of sellers to do this false advertisements of location to sell there products. So am I stuck waiting several weeks just to turn around and return it. i can't wait that long for the part and will wind up buying at a higher price locally, I already sent a message for the seller to cancel the item but I am sure it is too late.

Mentor3 years agoEvery item has a report link - use it to report the item location misrepresentation. I know that does not help you with this purchase.
I do not know if the seller has actually shipped yet, but in case he has not, I would send him another message and politely explain that you will be returning the item at his expense, since late arrival makes an item not as described. It might get the package recalled and your payment refunded.
Unfortunately, it is impossible for eBay to know when a seller is not being honest about the item location, and must rely on reports from buyers.

OP3 years agoI already sent a message for the seller to cancel the item but I am sure it is too late. I have sent three messages with no response. I cant find the "item has a report link" you mentioned. I have tried to report it to eBay, but after I filled out the form it gave me an error message. UGGGGGGGG!

Mentor3 years agoOn the far right of the item description, just above the item # is a report this item link. Select listing practices/ other listing practices/ item location misrepresentation.
I didn't know if you had told the seller that you will be returning at his expense - this is sometimes good motivation for the seller to stop the shipment 🙂

OP3 years agoYep I sure did I thank you for your advice here is a little tided bit I found while searching false claims when selling. I'm sure eBay is protected some way so this won't applies to them .
Regulations of False Advertising
The federal Lanham Act allows civil lawsuits for false advertising that “misrepresents the nature, characteristics, qualities, or geographic origin†of goods or services. 15 U.S.C. § 1125(a). The FTC also enforces false advertising laws on behalf of consumers.
States have their own laws regulating false advertising and other deceptive trade practices. California, for example, prohibits dissemination of information about products or services that is “untrue or misleading,†with both civil and criminal enforcement. CA Bus. & Prof. Code § 17500.

Mentor3 years agoI believe by geographic origin, they mean country of manufacture, not stocking location, but you could certainly take the seller to court - it would be the seller, not eBay, since the seller is responsible for his advertisement. I’m sure that is in the user agreement.
