I sold an item (multiple pieces) and a piece is now missing.
After years of selling on Ebay, this is a first for me.
I sold an item that had multiple pieces and now I can't find one important piece! I've looked everywhere.
What are the steps to cancel the order?
I will contact the buyer and explain.
I also purchased the shipping label already! 😞
Does everything get refunded? (to buyer and me?)
TIA

OP11 months agoThanks to both responders!
I messaged the buyer and offered to give them a partial refund if they still wanted the rest of the parts, or asked them to please cancel the order.
They replied that they wanted to cancel the order but couldn't (probably because I had already created the label so it was technically "shipped")
So I canceled the order under "buyer request" and it's done.
I appreciate the Ebay Community!

Mentor11 months ago@akde27 You are more than welcome. Just so you know, Buyers CANNOT cancel orders, only Sellers can do that. You used the correct Cancellation reason too which is GREAT! You have our sincere best wishes for continued success Selling on eBay!

Mentor11 months agoHi @akde27
-VERY GOOD IDEA to message the Buyer, explain the situation and ask if they would consider messaging you back asking for a cancellation. If they do you can cancel using the reason Buyer requested. Honest communication can go a long way at times.
-You can Cancel the label you purchased up to 28 days after buying it on this page: Orders — eBay Seller Hub
Your account will be credited the label cost in 21 days or less.

Follow up... if buyer wants me to cancel, then it's on me to do it?
Is there a way to say that item is, let's say, damaged or missing?

Mentor11 months agoIf the buyer asks to cancel then you avoid the Defect on your account. Otherwise you have to cancel as out of stock / damaged and receive a Defect. One defect won't hurt you too much but if you get more your account can be downgraded or even banned.
Cancel is in the drop down menu next to the sold item on this page>
https://www.ebay.com/sh/ord/?filter=status:ALL_ORDERS
This is how the refund works>
Refunds, even for order cancellations, come out of your available funds not pending or held. If you do not have available funds then eBay charges your back up payment method for selling costs.
Have you entered your backup payment method for selling costs here: https://ppcapp.ebay.com/myppc/wallet/list Select Manage under the method you want to use then select Preferred for selling costs. I use a credit card.
Once you issue the refund and the buyers funds are released from being held or finish processing then the buyers payment is released to you.
