I refunded an expensive item that was eventually delivered!! WHAT DO I DO!!
Hello,
I had an issue with this item getting almost to the buyer's location, but the buyer reported it destroyed/lost. The buyer told me he called a fed ex warehouse local to me and FedEx told him the item was destroyed. So, I called the same warehouse days in a row, and no one will answer ever. Anyways I finally spoke to a corporate fed ex rep, and they said the package was in route still but slow due to the valentine holiday. A few days pass and eBay and the buyer are requesting a refund. So, I went ahead and filed a claim with FedEx for the value of the item. They investigated a few days and then agreed the item was lost and did not believe it would be found.
After I filed the claim, I waited a few days to see if the package would be found and delivered. Nothing happened. Mind you this was a 120lb wood crate so no way it was lost. I went ahead and sent the guy a refund. No worries right and hoping FedEx would just pay for the item. Well today I logged into fed ex to check the status of my claim, and it says, "Your package was released as requested and safely delivered." I find this very odd because I never asked them to hold the item or release anything. Fedex never called me and asked me what I wanted to happen to the package since it was lost and i was the shipper. FedEx has a lot of theft and shady employees. I would recommend removing them from your shipping options. At this point I just sent the buyer a message on Ebay and requested that he confirm the package was delivered and so far, no response. I will ask him to pay for the item or return it to me. What can I do to help me recover my item or funds? Ebay shows the item as delivered and fedex but the system isnt givng me a option to appeal the dispute.
