I received a package from ebay which I did not order

Question

I received a package in the mail the other day from ebay. I did NOT order the item but some customer who lives across the country is expecting it... Since ebay does not seem to want to pay physical staff to communicate with I keep getting in a loop of ineffective assistance. Would appreciate the advice...

If you did not purchase anything on eBay then Refuse the package. It will be returned to the Seller. Since you did not order you cannot file any claim since your account has NO record of a purchase.

The Seller either made a mistake or intentionally shipped an item to the wrong address as part of a scam.

It's possible the seller accidentally switched shipping labels. Do you have an item in your Purchase history that has not yet been received? You might use the CONTACT SELLER link and ask if the seller's name is xxx located in city/state, and if so, s/he can explain what needs to be done. Basically, you file a returns request for Item Not as Described. Seller accepts and sends a return shipping label. Seller refunds you and relists the item and you repurchase (assuming the other buyer also files the same case).
