I purchased an item on 1/1/2026 and it arrived damaged on 1/28/2026
The item was a 32oz bottle of shower gel (weighing approximately 4 pounds) that shipped from California to me in Washington, DC. The seller irresponsibly wrapped the item in a paper bag and tape...no box! The item arrived with the pump open and leaking and spilling out all over the packaging. I have started a return, however the item is not returnable as is. It needs a box and it needs packaging that the seller did not provide, thus the damaged bottle. I attached pictures and am unsure how to communicate this to eBay. The seller is completely unreasonable and is treating me like this is my fault. How do I communicate with eBay to let them know that I feel that this is unfair and would like the money back guarantee. The item cost was approximately $40.

Mentor7 months agoThe buyer pays for return shipping if s/he wants the item back. After taking photos of the packaging and the damaged item, the buyer may just refund without return of the item. If the seller does want the item back, I would place the container into a plastic bag large enough to secure the bag, and then into a box.
