I purchased a diamond ring from ebay in 2022 and resold last month. Now the buyer claims its fake.
I purchased a diamond ring, 925 silver band plated with white 14kt gold off of ebay in 2022. Last month, I resold the ring on ebay, using the same info as the description listed when I purchased it in 2022. After the seller finally received the ring (the post office lost the package and had to make quite an effort to locate the lost package, but they did finally find it and it was delivered 1 month after it was sent), all was well at first. Then about a week ago, he opened a return case, claiming that he had used several different acid tests to prove that it was fake in every way. However, he did not post a video of this, only 2 blurry pictures of a ring and a puddle of clear looking liquid next to it and all bottle next to the puddle in which the label was facing away from the camera in the pictures he posted. I assume this ring was legitimate because it had been stamped 14 kt on the band and the diamond appeared to be real. I assume that ebay checks into jewelry sellers and their products authenticity before allowing them to sell fake jewelry as the real thing on their platform. What is the proper course of action to take here? Please help. Thanks so much in advance!

Ebay has a 30-day Money Back Guarantee is for Buyer Purchase Protection. If it's been 30 days or less since delivery, the Buyer is allowed to open an Item Not as Described refund request. The Seller is required to respond in three business days with either a prepaid return label or a full refund.
Ebay introduced the Authenticity Guarantee program for jewelry a few years ago. If the jewelry item doesn't qualify for that program, the Seller is responsible for their listing.
In this scenario, it's in your best interests to accept the return. Once the item is back, if you need additional assistance, please update this post.
