I purchased a bad engine

I paid for an engine and when I received it I paid to get it installed in my vehicle. When the job was completed the mechanic scanned the engine for defects learning that the timing chain is bad. The seller will refund me but he is requesting I pay to get the engine removed and send it back.

Is the seller liable for the cost of removing the engine and the initial cost to install the engine?
