I paid for a buy it now item but now I realize it was a fake listing
Summary: seeker-ktf purchased an RTX 4090 graphics card from a seller with a reasonable feedback score, but later suspected the listing was fake upon discovering the photos were reused. They are concerned about possible fraud and seeking advice on the next steps. jacbarcollectibles advised to follow the eBay process: if the item isn't received timely, open an 'Item not received' case, or if it arrives but is not as described, open an 'Item not as described' case to initiate a return and refund.
I bid on an RTX 4090 graphics card that was used (still, always going for north of $3k) and supposed to be in good condition, based on the description and the pictures. The seller had a 52 feedback which is not super low for a "regular person seller" so I didn't think it would be a problem. I paid for it on Friday, and the seller respond pretty quickly that he didn't have time then but would send it out right away on Monday. Monday comes and crickets. Then I started looking at this pictures and reverse google search shows the exact pics used previously. :(
As far as I can tell, I can't do anything at this point but wait for everyone else to agree that this is fake and then go through the process of trying to get my money back. Is there no way to "head it off at the pass" or do I just need to go through the entire process?

Mentor2 weeks agoYou will need to wait for the item to be delivered and then file the Return Request if it is not as described.
Within 30 days from date of delivery, go to your Purchase History, find the item, and under “More actions” click on “Return item” and select the reason for the return. “Doesn't match description“. Attach a photo.
IF your request is approved, the seller will have 3 business days to either accept the return and provide a prepaid return shipping label OR refund without having you return the item.
If they don't do either, you can go back to your Return Request details 4 business days after you filed the Request and ask Ebay to step in.

Mentor2 weeks agoYou must follow the eBay process. Once the item is received you have 30 days to open an "Item not as described" case. The seller will need to send you a prepaid return label and once returned they must give you a full refund. Keep track of your last expected delivery date shown in your purchase history. If you do not receive the item by one full day after this date you can open an "Item not received" case.
