I listed an african american doll from Gone With the Wind
The character's name in the movie was Mammy, but I keep getting reported as this being offensive. I don't understand why it's offensive. So is the entire movie also offensive? There are a multitude of movies I find extremely offensive, extremely foul language, explicit sex, fighting and killing people, and other illegal activities that are glorified. Someone tell me the reason my listing would be offensive.

I don’t know for sure why your item was pulled … but I’m thinking it was because Mammy is wearing a ‘slave costume’.
That is why we no longer see the old ‘Aunt Jemima’ character on grocery shelves any more. [She was replaced by the company who makes the product … apparently because many people do feel that frivolous depictions of slavery IS offensive.]
There likely are other venues to list your doll. I strongly recommend you never relist ANY item on eBay that’s been pulled, as the bots find them quickly and start issuing penalties.
And, yes, I’ve heard and read that many people do consider ‘the entire movie’ offensive.

Offensive materials policy | eBay
eBay owns the site so they can make the policy.
You cannot list your doll.

OP4 months agoI know they make the rules, but I filed an appeal and I said I was just using a character name and they ruled in my favor, so I put it back up. Then a day later I got another notice from eBay that a user complained about it and it was taken down again. So there's someone out there searching eBay for this one particular word, so they can protest it with eBay. Probably not even someone looking to buy a doll, just trolling. Too bad, because if you have a collection of Gone With The Wind dolls, I don't believe it's complete unless you also have this doll.
