i have twice listed an item. after waiting hours, it still fails to appear when searched.
it shows in my summary as active, but won't appear in a search

Listings can take about 24 -30 hours before they can be searched for on the site. If you revise the listing then it starts the clock over again. Also some types of items can take longer to index to the site as they are reviewed first.
