I have an international buyer whom I can't send an invoice to and he's saying he can't pay
I sold an item the other day to a person in Japan. I have both international orders on as well as the global shipping program. I tried sending him an invoice, but am getting an error message from ebay saying that I can't send an invoice to international buyers. I had mentioned this to the buyer and just asked him to pay for the item. This is the buyers message to me - Thank you for your messages. I clicked the payment button, but, the screen showed, Unfortunately, this seller won't this item to China, Japan. Please contact the seller to request order total. Please correct your ebay listing and send an invoice so that I can make the payment smoothly.
I don't have any selling restrictions to countries and am selling to China and Japan. Wouldn't ebay block the buyer from bidding if they weren't allowed to purchase the item?
How do i handle this? I cannot send them an invoice and they apparently can't pay.

Mentor1 year agoMost likely this is something being restricted from shipping to those countries.

OP1 year agoI had contacted ebay about it and you're partially correct. Being that it's a lamp. ebay's system automatically detected the lightbulbs (which I'm not including) and they are restricting it from being sent overseas. So, ebay had sent me a link to send to the buyer so he would be able to request a total from me. Apparently that didn't work and ebay told the buyer to cancel the sale and for me to re-list it. Buyer is requesting me to re-list it and have a buy it now exclusively for him which I have no idea how to do. He's also requesting me to include the shipping and all fees into the price but I don't want to do and don't think i can add the customs fees because I have no idea what those fees will be.

If the lightbulb isn’t included, take it out of the pictures.

Mentor1 year agoYou can set up a buy it now and let the buyer no but there isn't a way to prevent anyone else from purchasing. You may also run into the same issue with it not allowing them to pay. There also isn't a way for you to include all those costs in the price with shipping through eBay's international shipping. You could offer a listing with shipping directly to the buyer but then you are responsible for the item if it is damaged after leaving the US. It also wouldn't include customs the buyer would owe that once it got there if you ship directly.
