I had a couple auctions end today, and the items sold, but I need the money to be released to me in order to ship the items...

That's not how it works. You have to pay to ship the items to your buyer even before you receive the payout from Ebay.
"If your funds are not immediately available from payments for an item you sold, you're not allowed to hold shipment until the funds are released."
