I cannot issue a refund because my case is closed.
I wasn't able to ship an item to a buyer, so they asked for a refund. I've tried to issue it, but my account is on hold because of this issue, and I can't issue a refund because the case is closed. I never received the funds, so I have nothing to give back to the would-be customer. And I can't get a human being to respond to me from eBay. I just keep getting an automated message saying the case is closed. What do I do?

OP5 months agoThanks for that. I believe that will work. The problem is that I never received the funds, so I have nothing to give back. I now have to cover the fees because I wasn't able to send the item. Seems like I ripped myself off by trying to sell on eBay. 😞

The buyer's money will be released to you when the transaction is done.

The case is closed? What sort of case was opened? What was the outcome?
When you issue a refund, that comes from Available funds OR from your back up credit card. Then the buyer's money is released to you.
Try this
1) Go to your Sold order here: https://www.ebay.com/mys/sold
2) Select "Send Refund" from the drop-down list to the right.
3) You will be able to select the exact amount of the refund to send.
4) Confirm the refund
If needed, use eBay's social media customer service to get assistance
