I believe I have been ripped off
I purchased a piece of equipment for $8,265. I've tried to contact the seller serval times this week with no response. Seller sent a "Bill of Sale" with no vin or serial numbers on it. Now marked as "delivered". And I can't seem to get in contact with eBay.

What is the eBay Item Number for the listing? I would like to look at the listing first.
If the item shows delivered, but you didn't get the item:
1) First, call the post office/shipper to see if the tracking number label contained your name and your address. (They won't tell you whose name *is* on the package, only that your name and address *is not*.)
a) If your name and correct address were on the label, ask the Post Office/shipper to review the GPS on the delivery, retrieve the item from the wrong house, and deliver it to you.
b) If your name and address weren't on that label, ask the Post Office/shipper if they will put this in writing; it's helpful, but not required. Also, ask for the weight of the package using that tracking number. Follow the rest of the steps starting with 2 below:

then click " Proof of Delivery"
The proof of delivery may have more details about the delivery site, and the weight. Screenshot that.
FOR FEDEX

Then click 'View More Details' to see the package weight. Screenshot that.
2) Then, report the seller using this process

Important, select "Suspicious seller activity"
then "Other"
Explain that the seller is using fake tracking numbers
Include these phrases
Don't write a novel, it's initially being read by a computer, that's why I want you to use those 3 specific phrases in the message.
3) Finally, contact Customer Service and inform them that the seller uploaded a "false tracking number" on your purchase. Share any documentation you gathered. Request a refund.
Use the Customer Service that is on Instagram this way:

Send a private direct message to the page. Explain you have a fake or false tracking number situation.
Let me know how this goes, I've been burned a few times myself (including on Amazon), but I have been able to get a refund following this process.
There are additional steps to take if the above isn't effective, just come back and update me.

OP4 months agoThank you so much for your response! Unfortunately, the item was taken down on Monday. Shortly after, the seller changed their username. The item was a 3300LB mini skid steer. It's definitely not lost in the mail. I was able to report fraud to eBay this afternoon. and I just checked and there is a new review up on the seller saying they were ripped off as well. They say they were contacted by eBay and told they (eBay) were on it. So, I'm not on eBay much and didn't realize I had been punked for about 12 days. This is an all-new scam to me. I've been trying to figure out how to navigate this for the past week. I'd love to get my money back, but the most important thing is this doesn't happen to anyone ells! Thanks again eastlaneave!

OP4 months agoPartial success! I was able to finally get an Agent on the phone this morning. I was told I'll have to contact eBay motors on Monday for a refund. It seems the trick to get an agent on the phone is to repeatedly type "agent" in the AI chat every time it responds to another prompt. the rep I spoke to did mention that there was a problem with that account but didn't elaborate as to what the problem was. we'll see what happens!

Typing agent repeatedly definitely works to get a person.
Be sure you have all your ducks in order (1-2 above) when you talk to someone.
If you don't reach someone, the Customer Service staff at Instagram can also help.
