I am very careful to enter weights and dimensions accurately but still lose money on labels
I sell mostly collectibles such as toys, trading cards, comics, etc. I am always very careful to enter my weights and shipping box container dimensions extremely accurately. I usually even estimate the weight a little bit higher than the actual weight because I really do not like losing money on shipping.
Even so, I lose money on shipping for almost every order. Most of the time I lose $1 to $3 on orders that are often only $10-$20. That really eats into my profits.
When I need to ship bigger boxes - like 24 inches or wider, I get crazy shipping rates from eBay. A package with dimensions of 24" x 20" x 12" and a weight of 12 lbs is over $120. Way more than the cost of the item. It makes a lot of my stuff impossible to sell.
I have tried every carrier... USPS is best for me but I try UPS and FedEx too and it almost never works out. Am I missing something with shipping?
