I am getting ripped off
I have recently started selling fragrances on Ebay, so far I have sold about 15 or so. ALL of them have been perfect sales. I package them extremely well in VERY secure packages.
Now I am getting scammed. I should have known better. The buyer opened his account on the day of the purchase and he has zero feedback. He is claiming the box arrived empty. That's unbelievable, he's trying to scam me out of $140. I dont know what to do! Please help!!

Accept the return and read what I just posted for you ... once the item has been returned use the Report Buyer link on the sold item FIRST, then review your seller protections and issue the refund ...

Send a message to the Buyer and ask them to provide pictures of the tampered package that you shipped the item in for your records, nothing else and then wait.
Hopefully you used a box and not a padded envelope or something less protective and then wait.
Yes, it is possible that the Buyer is scamming you and you will need to accept their return request if they file an official return. Your No return policy is extremely limited and does NOT protect you against all returns or refunds. If in the end the item is returned (empty box or other) review eBay Seller protections that may apply: Seller protections | eBay
If you get a bogus return also use the Report Buyer link on the sold item BEFORE issuing any refund.

OP5 months agoUnfortunately, I had Ebay call me shortly after writing this post. I explained to them that I have been on ebay for 13 years, I have more than 100+ positive feedback and that the buyer has no feedback, he opened his account on the day he made the purchase. If you call the phone number on file, its fake. Customer Service rep agreed that it was a scam, told me to let the return window lapse and call back and they would rule in my favor. I called today and the whole thing changed. I was told the sale was "under investigation". That they requested "evidence that the item didnt arrive" and the buyer sent them an image OF AN EMPTY BOX which they accepted as proof. And with "evidence" on file, I now have to wait 10 days as they "carefully investigate this sale". Its pretty clear they are going to rule in his favor. She suggested I file a claim with USPS. Thing is, USPS insurance doesnt cover the amount I am losing. And I run the risk of USPS ruling against me as the item was delivered.
This fragrance I sold is discontinued and is hard to find. And now its stolen thru ebay. This month I have sold a few things on ebay and any little money I made I lost on this sale. $200 loss to fraud on Ebay. So why am I even here?? I am utterly devastated and will be removing all my listings. Its insane to me that I get no protection as a seller from an obvious scam.
I wish I had seen your post earlier as ebay customer service has been utterly unhelpful.
