I am being charged with the V.A.T. twice at the moment of purchase and when the item arrived at the destination.
Summary: josluidelafuent0 purchased a watch from eBay and paid the V.A.T. as required. However, DHL is charging the V.A.T. again upon delivery in Switzerland, stating that the VAT number provided by eBay is insufficient because eBay is not clearly listed as the importer in the documents. DHL advises requesting a refund from eBay. josluidelafuent0 seeks advice on resolving this issue, feeling it's unfair to pay V.A.T. twice.
I bought a watch in e-Bay for my nephew and when I purchased the item, I was billed the V.A.T. ( 8.1 % ) according to the law, and the seller in Japan mentioned it to DHLwhen he send the watch. Now that the watch has arrived to Switzerland, where my nephew lives, DHL is charging me again the V.A.T. which I already payed. DHL tells me that the VAT number that e-bay gave is not enough ( " since eBay is not clearly listed as the importer in these documents, we were unable to issue an invoice to eBay. The VAT number alone is not sufficient...you should ask for a refund to e-bay.... )
What can I do ? It's not fair to pay the V.A.T. TWICE..... Please help me.

Mentor1 week agoAre you sure this second payment request is for VAT, and not brokerage fees to DHL, which carriers like Fed Ex and UPS also charges?
