I already received and item in the mail fedex claims fees are still due?

Question

Fed ex send me a link to pay " duty fees". Yes, the item has already been received. Is this a scam? Or do I need to pay extra "duties fees" on certain items that are paid though what's know as eBay "taxes" some explain this to me need help?

If the item was imported, you may need to pay the tariffs on the item (also known as duties).

You can likely call FedEx to confirm what the duties are for.

SCOTUS removed the IEEPA tariffs but Pres. Trump did add new tariffs (10%) under Section 122 of the 1974 Trade Act. https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2026/02/imposing-a-temporary-import-surcharge-to-address-fundamental-international-payments-problems/

So there are still tariffs on everything imported to USA, and likely brokerage to collect the tariff.

It's not eBay taxes, it is taxes you are paying to the US government because you imported an item.

This would mean some how the "taxes" don't cover the fee, and the seller left the buyer to pay the fee? That's why I'm asking because I've never had to do this before?
