I accidentally left positive feedback on a buyer who ghosted me. Can I remove it?
I was going through, leaving feedback on my transactions on the generic feedback page that includes transactions where I bought things as well. I've been waiting until items arrive at their destination and there's no problem with damaged goods or anything to leave seller feedback, to make sure the transaction is complete. So I usually go through the Sold page to do that, because I can double check that the transaction has that little green checkmark and Delivered next to it.
Today, however, I was leaving feedback for some items I bought and saw that my sold stuff was listed below them, so I figured what the heck, I can knock out some of the older sales that I'm pretty sure have all arrived.
I didn't realize that list was going to include transactions I had to cancel because the buyer just never paid and never responded when I tried to contact them.
I was able to sell the listing in question to someone else, and so I thought that was the transaction I was commenting on, but right as I hit submit, I looked at the user name and felt like that one was one of my problem cases.
I checked my block list and sure enough, there they are.
I wasn't planning on leaving any feedback for them. I understand that they got some mark against them for never paying, so that's good enough for me.
I just don't want to leave positive feedback on them, either, since I meant that for the person who actually bought my listing.
Is there a way to fix this? Or do they just get a free positive review, despite definitely not deserving it? Because I said they were prompt with payment and an easy transaction (as the second buyer was), and they definitely were not.

Positive feedback can never be changed.

OP3 years ago@dryophelia in most cases, I can see how that's a great thing. In this case, that's a shame. There really should be a policy for removing accidental comments. Live and learn, though. I'll make sure to only leave feedback for sold items from the Sold - Feedback Waiting page.
Thank you!

It didn't show up in the feedback tab under Sold. It showed up in the page that opens after you leave feedback on something you've bought and then it asks 'Leave more feedback?' That page had my bought stuff, sold stuff, and apparently my canceled stuff.
However, I'm getting off topic.
My question is still: is there some way for me to remove that feedback because it was not supposed to go to that person?

There is no way to leave anything but positive feedback for a buyer. It is a violation to leave negative comments in a positive rating. Luckily, you didn't do that.
eBay sends an invoice and a strongly worded reminder to pay in the first 4 days after the sale ends.
On the 5th day (96 hours) the seller is given the option to cancel for non-payment. If the seller chooses non-payment as the reason, the 'buyer' is given a strike. Sellers are able to proactively block all bidders with 2 or more of these strikes in a year.
Do you have that set in your Buyer Requirements?
When the strike is issued, neither party can leave feedback.
You have 30 days to cancel for non-payment.
What reason did you select when you canceled?

OP3 years agoWhen I canceled, I went through that 'waiting for payment' tab in Sold. It said, "Buyer has not paid. Wait for payment or cancel?" So I clicked cancel. It didn't give me a list of options.
