HST
HI
I won this auction: https://www.ebay.com/itm/388719240250
and the seller is adding a tax(HST) to the amount but he is not registered as a business and when I bidding on his item I did not see any info about the tax. Can someone help and let me know if he can do that.
Thanks

Mentor1 year ago@switu A tariff is charged based on the country the Beelink was manufactured in, not just when you import from the country of origin. In other words... it was made in China so you pay a tariff even though you didn't have the item shipped directly from China.

Mentor1 year ago@switu I am only familiar with HTS which you can read about here> https://hts.usitc.gov/
I do know for a fact that whatever you want to call it that items sold by a seller in Canada that were made in China are charged the tariff/ customs fee when imported to the US. I have been following discussions of Canadian eBay sellers.
