How would you handle this return request?
Summary: ad_680587 is dealing with a return request on eBay for a sports card collection sold for $200. The buyer claims the cards were damaged during shipping, but the photos they submitted are unclear and don't show any damage or packaging issues. ad_680587 is concerned that accepting the return without proper documentation may result in cards being altered before being sent back. They want eBay to review the evidence, document their concerns, and clarify seller protections for returns.
I sold a sports card collection on eBay for about $200 (+shipping fees). The cards were in good condition when I shipped them and matched the condition shown in my listing photos. The buyer opened a return claiming the cards arrived damaged, were poorly packaged, and moved around inside the box.
However, the four photos they submitted with the return do not show the cards, the packaging, or any visible damage. They appear to be blurry photos of his shorts. I messaged the buyer asking for clear photos showing the allegedly damaged cards and the packaging as it arrived, but so far they have not provided any actual evidence of damage.
My concern is that if I accept the return without documentation, cards could be removed, substituted, or damaged before being sent back. I want eBay to review the buyer’s submitted evidence, document my concerns on the case, and explain what seller protections apply if the collection is returned incomplete or in a different condition.
This feels sketchy AF
