Shipping should be determined before a listing is created.
The item should be boxed as if ready to ship so the seller can take the dimensions of the prepared box to the USPS website.
Such a fragile and complicated piece as what you sold is going to be a challenge. The box it will be mailed in will need to be secure enough to survive being tossed down a flight of stairs.
Had you tried packaging it for shipping before creating the listing, you may have changed your mind about listing it.
You did list with buyer paying shipping, but whatever info you entered got you a very low amount for the shipping - I see $7.95, but your buyer probably paid a different amount.
I would definitely use a professional pack and ship service for that item. Be sure to add signature confirmation - it is requested on sales of $750 or more.
Based on the cost for that item, you might be able to approximate the shipping for similar items, then list that as a flat rate for shipping. I’m not sure that the pack and ship store will estimate an item that you are not ready to ship, although they might.
If you use Calculated shipping the buyer will see the correct cost for their Zip Code. You just need to enter the correct weight and dimensions.
For an item like this, you need to pack it correctly. Normally it would be double boxed with a formed Styrofoam inner box from the factory. If you do not have that you will need to get a sturdy inner box and use peanuts to fully support/suspend the item. Then place this box in an sturdy outer box with further packing in between like bubble wrap.

OP3 years agoThanks for your reply...my first listing and I thought I had it listed as the buyer paying the shipping the costs!
So I need to determine the fees before listing .... maybe taking it for an estimate at a shipping facility first if not being done by me .
