How To Ship a Large Odd Shaped Sofa
I need to ship a 20' sectional sofa that can be separated into 4 (60"x42"x30") sections. Each of the 4 sections weighs less than 100lb. Any ideas how to ship it most cost effectively through eBay from zipcode 95223 to zipcode 34953?

You have to use a Freight service for that item and on this page there is a section specific to freight carriers integrated with eBay in the Domestic freight carriers section: Setting up your shipping options | eBay
For myself I have never shipped anything via Freight services, I would suggest reaching out to eBay and ask them how it works so you get paid for the Freight shipping which you included on the sold item you are talking about. Sadly, eBay's Help page give NO details on how to go about getting paid for a specific freight service.
-You can request a call back from eBay during west coast business hours here: eBay Customer Service

·10 months agoI the end of this, you may end up feeling like I do; I shipped a large piece of furniture from Florida to Texas via freight over 20 years ago, in my first years on eBay. I would never, never, NEVER do it again!

Not what I was hoping to hear. But I do appreciate your honesty. And I am already beginning to feel like you do. This is my first time selling anything in eBay. Everything was going along swimmingly until now with the shipping. The buyer is an experienced interior designer who has shipped furniture all over. We tried his preferred company and the quote was $8040. From Lake Tahoe, CA to Miami, FL.
I switched my ad shipping setting to "Local Pickup" but I think they still cannot complete payment. This part is so under-supported with eBay info.

You can’t change the item once it has sold. You can send an invoice with some small amount in the shipping, say $1. But then you will not be able to send another invoice for the actual shipping.

You cannot ship it through eBay. For an expensive piece of furniture, I would contact national movers like North American or American Van Lines. Be sure to have them quote insurance coverage, since damage is not uncommon on cross country transit.

OP10 months agoHey Wooden Flower...
Thank you so much for your timely and useful response.
I appreciate you very much.
I've received mostly snarkiness from my eBay contacts. So a kind and decent response is refreshing.

You’re very welcome.
Your buyer can’t pay until you send him an invoice with the freight shipping added on. I would send your buyer a message and explain that you have to get a quote or 2 before you can send the invoice.
