How to request Reason For Return?

I bought something and it ended up not being authentic as expected. I have discussed it all with seller and I am to return it. I've never returned something on Ebay before. I made a mistake choosing the "Reason For Return" for the return, and Chat said I couldn't change the reason for return. Then it said I could close the return request, but I couldn't open a new return request after changing my "Reason for Return". This doesn't make any sense. If I close the return request, can I open a new return request and choose the correct Reason For Return, or will it reject my return? I'm confused.

Unfortunately no, you cannot close a return and then open a new one. Much of the process is automated and that is how the programming works. You will have to pursue the current return with the reason selected. If after that process your refund does not satisfy you then you will have to pursue a dispute with your funding source.

If you close your return request, you will NOT be able to open another return request on eBay.

What reason did you use in the return?

(Do not close the return because the seller tells you to do that)
