how to refund without returning item
I sold a large item that arrived broken (yes in original box, and double boxed, bubble wrap, and peanuts but these things happen). I got the request, with photos, and immediately clicked yes. BUT this item cost $40 to ship, so I am just accepting the loss and do not want it back. However Ebay will not let me refund the buyer, because a "return" was started. Ebay keeps asking about a return label. I can't contact Ebay for help (of course).
Do I buy a label, enter that info to move the process forward, and then just cancel the label on the USPS website? That seems insane but it is all I can think of? THANKS!!

OP2 years agoI actually accidentally figured it out, somehow it popped up and I was able to refund without sending a return label. I was just clicking on things so not sure exactly the steps I took to achieve this, haha.

Mentor2 years agoDo not buy a label. Go to the return and click 'refund buyer now'.
Use the photos to file a claim with the carrier.
