how to list an old motorcycle for sale
Trying to list a 1978 motorcycle (With a 9 digit VIN) for sale on ebay.
They require a longer VIN (13 or 17 digits) or a current license plate # to create the listing title. Neither of which I have.
How can I enter the listing title manually?

If you entered the correct VIN and it’s still rejected, follow these steps:
- In the listing form, select the vehicle’s year from the Year drop-down menu.
- Enter 17 zeros in the VIN field. Seventeen 0
- In the item description, you must enter the following information or the listing may be removed:
-- The vehicle’s actual VIN
-- The reason you listed your vehicle using all of the same number in your VIN
- AND include a clear photo of the VIN plate in the auction.

“If the VIN isn't recognized by our systems, the actual VIN MUST be included in the item description with an explanation as to why it wasn't accepted, such as:
- The vehicle was manufactured for a model year before 1980
- The vehicle was manufactured outside of North America
- The vehicle wasn't intended for street-legal use”
