How to I post an "item wanted" ad on Ebay?

I am looking for a very specific item. I would like to post an "item wanted" ad with a description and picture of the item I am searching for. I believe this used to be possible on Ebay but I can no longer find how to do it.

@iandigs < I would like to post an "item wanted" ad with a description > The ability to do that sounds like a good idea, and even eBay agreed with the concept and created a Want It Now section where members could do just that. Good in theory, but a disaster in practice. What happened is that the posters would get bombarded with offers like "Sorry I don't have the item you want, but you might like this item I do have." spam. It spiraled out of control and eBay finally discontinued the feature.

eBay discontinued "Want it Now" around 2010.

What you can do today is this...

Go to an eBay page with the search bar up top and enter keywords to see if the item you want is listed. If you don't get any satisfactory results, you can click the link above the results list to save the search. That way, if one is listed in the future, you'll be notified.
