None of the mentors on this board are AI. We are buyers and sellers with, in most cases, decades of eBay experience volunteering to help others who post questions or seek advice.

OP2 weeks agoYep me too. Just say you can't do anything to remove from your service metrics.........

Sadly, the eBay Seller Metrics are EXTREMELY subjective. They do NOT show Sellers WHO they are being compared to. For example, lets say 20 Sellers all have a Lionel 2026 engine & 6466WX tender ... well, as a train seller you probably know that those 20 engines and tenders can vary a lot with regard to functionality, operation, cosmetic issues, etc. It is NOT an apples-to-apples comparison especially for those selling collectibles. It might make sense if those 20 Sellers were all selling Fruit of the Loom Men's Large T-shirt 3 packs ALL brand new.

Mentor2 weeks agoHi @13tribe
You can't. The service metrics returns calculation shows how many returns you had for ANY reason. Unless your returns are considerably higher than the average of sellers in your category, consider it informational only.
If you do have a high rate of returns, then it's best to try to figure out why so that you can reduce the number of returns you get in the future. For example, are you photographing and describing your items accurately? Is there enough information included in the description? Are you selling items of good quality? What are the buyers saying?
I'm not saying any of those things apply to you, however if your return rate is high, you need to try to figure out why so you can take action.

OP2 weeks agoDid you read what I wrote? Nothing to do with quality. "changed mind" and "ordered by mistake"

Yes, I read what you wrote. Both of those reasons could be used for quality concerns. A buyer might have several reasons for wanting a return...
And let me repeat that I am not saying there is anything wrong with the quality of your items or listings. I was giving examples of things to consider to reduce the number of returns you take IF your return rate is high. If it's not high, then don't worry about the rating.

OP2 weeks agoeBay welcomes and caters to returns. I am fine with that however then you get penalize 5% for too many returns for those reasons mentioned. How can those two reasons be quality issues? You already have item "not as described" for that. this forum is as much a waste of time as calling eBay!!!!
