how to get refund of USPS fee which I paid and the buyer paid

Buyer paid postage based on ebay calculation. When I brought item to post office, they said I needed to pay a couple dollars more & that the shipping label would have to be redone. Rather than return home and redo the whole thing, I paid it. How do I go about getting the buyer's shipping amount refunded to me, as I ended up paying the whole amount.

The buyer paid item price + shipping + sales tax. You received the item price + sales tax less FVF. If you miscalculated the shipping, and had to pay more, that comes out of your pocket. You cannot ask the buyer to pay more.

Make sure when you list your item, you weigh the item in the box along with the bubblewrap/etc, and measure the box (rounding up) so that ebay has accurate information to calculate the shipping cost from your zip code to the buyer's zip code.
