How to get paid for an item I sold

Question

I don't sell on eBay very much. i recently sold an item and my payment is still on hold after 3 weeks. The buyer received the item after only 3 days but my funds are still on hold. I think I may have screwed up because I mistakenly purchased the shipping from eBay but didn't understand how that worked so I sent it myself in a Priority box at my expenses (as I said, I'm a very infrequent seller so I don't know the ropes). I think because I haven't used the shipping I purchased, eBay won't release the hold. Any suggestions?

@ckollgaard1tk0 Do you have the tracking number for the priority box that you did use? Hopefully the answer is yes.

1st step if it has not be over 28 days CANCEL the unused eBay shipping label so you can get a refund:

You can void/ cancel the label within 28 days of purchasing it from the actions drop down menu next to the label on this page>

Select edit next to the tracking number and then ADD the correct one.

NEXT: How payouts work. The money is sent to your linked and verified checking account usually a few days after tracking shows delivery but holds can be up to 30 days, sometimes longer, for new and returning sellers.

When you use an eBay shipping label it costs less than at the post office and the tracking is automatically uploaded.

If you did not use the label you purchased through eBay, you should cancel it and get a refund.

Go to Track and manage your shipments in Seller Hub or Manage shipping labels in My eBay.
Find the item you'd like to cancel the shipping label for, then from the Actions column, select Cancel Label.
Choose your reason for canceling the label.
Select Send request.

Then see if you can enter the tracking # for the actual shipment.

Without tracking that shows delivery, your payment will probably be held 21 - 30 days, but it will get released.
