How To Get eBay to Help with Return with Uncooperative Seller
Simply put I got screwed by a seller where the order was not fulfilled as described on the eBay page. Seller will not pay for the return and eBay isn't helping. eBay has to know that this is happening with other people. I can't be the only person this has happened to. This guy is still advertising the same product I purchased so he must be doing the same thing to others. eBay's promises aren't worth the paper they are printed on.
Anyone else having trouble with Chinese sellers of electric AC systems?

OP2 years agoI did everything that I was supposed to do except pay for the return myself. The shipping cost is $136.33. The seller offered me $50 but that never arrived either. If I ship it at my cost all he has to do id refuse to send the $352.00 I have spent already. I am also dealing with a guy from mainland China. Even my wife who was born and raised in Shenyang City China said she would never order anything from a business in China.
I guess what I will do is sell it here or maybe install it in one of my cars as I originally intended. I will have to make up the missing parts. The electric air conditioning compressors sell for $350 to $800+ without any of the wiring or the controller.

OP2 years agoI am finished screwing around with eBay. I have had good results with the American sellers here but everyone should be wary of anyone selling even inexpensive items from China. Realize that eBay has no control over any foreign sellers. To me and based upon this experience, eBay only cares about making money from the foreign sellers not the American buyers. So beware of the Chinese seller, even the ones who are using an American address. We forget that we are dealing with a godless society.
I had a similar problem with an Amazon order for corduroy fabric. It appeared to be coming from a location in New Jersey but it was only a front and the actual location was in far south China. I ordered fabric that was supposed to be dark blue but what arrived was turquoise. When I tried to return it I found out that I was expected to ship it back to China and the cost was 4X what I paid for it. The seller eventually wrote that I didn't have to return it. from now on I check to see whether something I want to purchase is coming from China and if it is questionable I do not purchase it.

Again...
What happened when you clicked the button in the case to ask eBay to step in on the 4th business day (or later)? Did you let the case time out without taking action? What do you mean you went in circles?

If you received an item that is not as described, you have up to 30 days to open a return using the option next to the transaction in your Purchase History. The seller will have 3 business days to provide a prepaid return shipping label* or else refund. If he does neither, go back to the case on day 4 and use the option to ask eBay to step in. They will force the refund.
*Sellers in China cannot send you a label and so is required to send you the money to buy one. They won't do it because the return shipping will be more than the item price. So simply wait until day 4 and ask eBay to step in. (Ignore the seller's excuses, promises of replacements, instructions that will result in you losing buyer protection.) Just follow the process.

OP2 years agoI have followed the process but it appears that eBay will not step in or do anything else. The process is a giant circle that takes me from the starting point and back to the beginning. I did talk to an actual person and they could not help me.
Ebay knows this is happening but they are getting too much money to stop trade from China.
To deliver to the USA doesn't cost $196. I lived and worked in China for 6 years and a 17 pound package shipped by China Post costs $US40. If I ship it back at my cost by UPS it is $136.33 and it arrives in China in 6 days. I waited an entire month to get only one part of a 7 part package. If I send it back I will end up eating it all. I won't do that.
There is lots of talk on the Chinese chat servers that Chinese sales on eBay are a ripoff for American consumers. My wife is originally from China and she told me that she never would have recommended getting anything from China anymore. eBay makes lots of promises that they do not keep.

Other buyers are getting their refunds, so I'm wondering why your case would be different...
