How to get Ebay to go after a buyer who scammed me on the return policy
Buyer requested refund, which I promptly gave him (my mistake) and hasn't shipped back my item. Buyer stopped communicating AND left negative feedback. Ebay considers complaint closed and will no longer get involved. Buyer now has my refund AND my item.

OP4 months agoI did refund too quickly…. So the feedback is appropriate. He refused to return item after many attempts

Mentor4 months agoIt's not allowed though...if they report it you will get a violation. You can't say anything but nice positive things about buyers, you cannot call them scammers or anything like that.
He isn't required to return the item when you refund before getting it back and also have you sent him a shipping label? Once you refunded that made any return label un-useable

OP4 months agoI didn’t know that…..but it’s really stupid

Mentor4 months agoWell now you know. Nothing negative can be said in your feedback to a buyer and once you refund eBay considers it a done deal, case closed.

OP4 months agoI honestly thought all feedback whether buyer or seller should be truthful.
As for KEEPING and item AND the refund, please show me where eBay states that please.

Mentor4 months agoNope, you cannot say anything remotely bad about a buyer.
Also eBay considers you refunding an agreement that you decided that paying for return shipping wasn't worth it. They obviously can't force the buyer to send an item back and since eBay didn't force the refund then sending the refund was a choice you made.

·4 months agoThe feedback you left the buyer is a policy violation. Hopefully the buyer won’t report it, or you’ll get a violation against your account.

OP4 months agoPlease explain how my feedback is a policy violation?

Mentor4 months agoYou cannot post any negative wording toward a buyer.

OP4 months agoActually I didn’t. Irregardless, my question is….why would eBay allow him to keep the refund AND my item.

Mentor4 months agoBecause YOU refunded before you got the item back. That is not proper procedure, so you did it to yourself.
As for the feedback, you literally did...

If you wanted the item back you should have issued a return label and then waited until receiving the item back to provide the refund.
eBay considers the matter closed and will not "go after" the buyer for taking the refund you voluntarily provided, nor can eBay force the buyer to return anything.
Withholding the refund until the item was returned was your only real leverage with an uncommunicative buyer, and you gave that away.
