How to get eBay involved when seller sent to wrong address and is not responding? Bought MacBook Pro from a major seller..
Summary: user910710 describes purchasing a MacBook Pro for $5k that was sent to an incorrect address, and the seller is unresponsive. krazzykats suggests trying to contact an eBay agent or filing a chargeback, while disneyshopper advises filing an 'Item Not Received' case rather than a return request. eburtonlab discusses the possibility of 'false tracking' and recommends obtaining documentation to prove the delivery issue, contacting eBay through social media, and considering recourse through the payment method. user910710 states the seller claimed it was a tracking mix-up and is willing to resend the item, though they have not followed through. The overall experience has been disappointing.
I have made a purchase and the item was delivered to an incorrect address, the seller is not responding to my messages. I need to get Ebay involved? I submitted a request for return, but I am getting the option to print out return label, nothing else. What do I need to do, I paid 5k for a MacBook Pro. I have messaged the seller a few times and it's been 3 business days. What can I do to get this resolved? The seller has really good feed back. This has been a very disappointing experience.

Mentor1 month agoIf you have contacted the shipping service directly to determine that the tracking number does not correspond to a delivery to your address you are likely looking at a case of "false tracking".
If you can, I would suggest obtaining documentation that shows that the package was not addressed to you, then contacting eBay via social media direct message using Instagram and mentioning that you have a case of "false tracking" to be given an opportunity to share your documentation:
https://www.instagram.com/ebay/
If you cannot get documentation, or if that does not work:
Since false tracking allows a scam seller to win an "item not received" case, the next step would be to file a "not as described" return on eBay and be prepared to return exactly what you received if the seller provides for return shipping, or ask eBay to step in after three business days if the seller does not refund you or provide return shipping.
You may have recourse through your payment method if you are unable to get satisfaction through eBay, though once you involve a payment method, eBay can no longer help with that transaction. Be sure you mention "false tracking" specifically, otherwise your provider may assume a simple missing or stolen package and defer to eBay's ruling based on the tracking showing delivery.
In the future, stick to experienced sellers with a long and demonstrated history and avoid new or unproven sellers, or sellers that show warning signs of being drop-shippers or potential scammers: drastic changes in selling behavior or offering deals that are "too good to be true", or shipping heavy items that are unlikely to be profitably shipped via retail shipping.

OP1 month ago · EditedI searched for a reputable seller, this was the seller. I have screen shots of all the messages I’ve sent with little to no reply. They said it was a simple tracking mix up, they still have the item, would I like a refund or for them to still send it out? I replied and they have yet to respond..

Mentor1 month agoIt sounds like you filed the wrong case. You cannot file a returns request if you never received the item. The case you need to file is Item Not Received. Go to the carrier with the tracking number and have the clerk check their GPS system to see where exactly the package was delivered. If not to your address, the carrier should try and retrieve the package.

You may have to scroll around until you get the option to have an agent call you.
And if all else fails, file a chargeback with your funding source.

OP1 month agoThank you, I’ve screenshotted all of the reply’s. I’ll be looking for the eBay agent when I get off of work. Didn’t have luck other than the chat AI. Thanks for the reply.
