How to get a seller to respond
Seller will not respond to warranting item bought that failed right away listed as (3) yr warranty. Didn’t last a month. eBay won’t step in and help. eBay won’t give me the option to report the seller either. What can I do? I am out $700.00 and have a very unhappy customer with a broken vehicle he paid to get fixed. Been try to get a response since October 2023, no luck at all. All messages on eBay, seller won’t ever answer.

Mentor2 years agoebay's Money Back Guarantee expires 30 days after receipt of the item. Manufacturers do not honor warranties for their items unless the seller is an authorized dealer or reseller. If you paid with Paypal, you can file a case with them as they allow returns within 180 days of the transaction. As a last resort, you can file a chargeback with your credit card issuer if that is how you paid.

OP2 years agoI appreciate your reply. So basically, listing the warranty in the sellers description and warranty section is a scam to get you to purchase the item. They have no intentions of EVER honoring it and there’s nothing that can be done about it! eBay won’t step in to help, PayPal won’t do anything because now it’s been too long and I used a debit card and not a credit card, so the bank won’t do anything after 30-60 days either. Basically going to have to never buy parts like this off eBay again and have to go to a dealer and pay 50x’s more money to know what I’m getting. Covid sure screwed this country and they way everyone does business up. There’s no more customer service or appreciation. I guess we are all just on our own against each other. See who can screw who first type scenario.

·2 years agoCovid changed a lot of things worldwide and many things have not gone back to pre-pandemic norms. A big change for ebay was that instead of coming into an office around everyone else, they had everyone start working remotely from home. It’s still that way, but most things are automated now anyway.
I seriously don’t think sellers are trying to scam people. Another thing that changed because of the pandemic is that eBay had a huge influx of new sellers, with people not necessarily familiarizing themselves with how things really work. They really don’t have any idea that as they were the original buyer of the item, that warranties are not transferable, and that the manufacturer generally won’t honor the warranty.
And, if YOU were extremely familiar with how these things work, you could have checked out whether the seller was an authorized dealer for the item, or you could have made sure that you opened a case within the allotted time.
