How to get a refund after mistakenly trusting a seller ?
Summary: bifau_26 discussed their experience purchasing a watch band clasp that was incorrectly labeled and the challenges faced in obtaining a refund. After multiple attempts to resolve the issue directly with the seller, who was unresponsive, they sought help through eBay but were denied due to the time elapsed. lady_madonna advised contacting the payment source to file a charge dispute as eBay's support window had closed.
Seller listed a watch band clasp with a model number of 04402. I purchased the clasp and received it 3 weeks later. Mistake number 1 - bought from a vendor in Germany. Item was wrong as it was clearly stamped 04401.
I messaged the seller that he sent the wrong clasp. He said return it to him and he would send the correct item. Mistake number 2 - I should have asked for a refund through the Ebay site instead of returning item directly to seller without involving Ebay. Seller said he would send out replacement as soon as he received incorrect item. A couple weeks passed and no item received. I knew he received my item as i had tracking. I could tell through the messaging that the correct clasp wasn't likely to come from him. I asked for a refund of my purchase and he agreed. Crickets from him so I asked again and again he said he would look into it. Long story short no refund. So I went through Ebay to request a refund. I assume they sent the request to the seller who denied the refund because it was over 30 days since the purchase.
So I'm out $225 with no help from Ebay as they say case closed. And it is impossible to speak to a human to explain the situation. And by the way, all messages between me and the seller were through my Ebay account - it is very easy to follow the transaction back and forths.
Any ideas how to get a deserved refund at this point for obviously an Ebay rookie like myself ??

Contact the funding source you used to pay for the item to file the charge dispute.
EDITED TO ADD: In the future, use the Ebay Return Request if you receive something that does not match description.
