How to disconnect my bank account from my eBay account.
My account was doing fine before I was forced to connect my bank account to pay the shipping on a refund I approved. Since then the random arbitrary payment structure has cost me $48 in overdraft fees and put my money in limbo every time I need to pay for shipping and mail things out.
How can I remove my bank account and have it working well like before?
Also, what are some good alternatives to selling on eBay? The huge fees, lack of humanity, and useless customer care makes it very clear that I should be taking my business elsewhere.

Mentor2 years ago@chriambur-0 If you wish to keep selling on eBay there is no way to remove your checking account.
You should have a back up payment method for selling costs. I use a credit card so it doesn't come out of my checking account.
Enter your backup payment method for selling costs here: https://ppcapp.ebay.com/myppc/wallet/list
AND Select Manage under the method you want to use then select Preferred for selling costs.
If you are subject to fund holds then you can't use processing payments to pay for the shipping labels. You have to use your back up payment method. Your payout to your checking account when the funds are released will include the buyers payment for the item and shipping MINUS eBay fees.

OP2 years agoI specifically do not want a back up payment method. Before I let them reach into my bank account they held the money and it didn't pay out until the customer received their item. Shipping fees came out of that hold. I was fine with that, that arrangement was more practical and beneficial in every way.

In order to sell on Ebay, sellers need to have a checking account on file.
We cannot suggest alternatives to selling on Ebay. That would be like someone going into Walmart and asking where is an alternative place to shop.

Also I thought this was the "eBay community," if I am talking to another customer in Walmart I'd sure as heck want them to be able to mention alternative places to shop. Brand loyalty is one thing, but authoritarianism is taking that too far.

Mentor2 years ago@chriambur-0 We are not allowed to refer members to another site for selling, there are many that you can find with a quick search. We are representing eBay on the community board so that's why we can't say where else to sell.
You need the back up payment method for selling costs. If you do not wish to do this then you should end your active listings and stop selling.
Here's how to end your active listings:
Go to this page> https://www.ebay.com/sh/lst/active
Put a checkmark next to all items
Select the Actions menu at the top of the list and then END.
You can choose to keep the account for buying if you wish OR close it 60 days after the last sale or purchase. Closing the account is the ONLY way to remove your checking account form eBay.

OP2 years agoOmg thank you for this, I was trying to find how to end individual listings earlier too and having an impossible time. Thanks for the helpful info! 😸
