I had a listing for sale on a pair of shorts that were no longer available. They sold and I had to cancel the order unfortunately. First time doing this, and now eBay is putting payment on hold? I am confused. The buyer was refunded also. I just want the listing down. eBay is asking for personal info from me and I am not comfortable giving my SSN out. I am usually a buyer not a seller… help!
Your listing is marked sold, there is no need to delete it.
You have to provide eBay with your Tax Information in order for them to release the buyer's money to you.
eBay is required by Federal law to gather that information.
Unless your state requires a 1099-K at a lower level, you won't get one from eBay for 2026 unless you have $20,000 in sales and 200 transactions in 2026.
Thank you for the response. My issue is eBay keeps saying they need more information or my account can be restricted.. I have a debit card on file and I already refunded the buyer. I don’t feel comfortable putting my ssn on there. I don’t sell products I usually am the buyer, will that still affect my account to buy stuff or just sell?? It was literally only an $18.00 item so I am confused why eBay keeps asking for more information after buyer was already refunded. They charged a $0.40 selling cost also. I just don’t want my account affected to be able to continue to buy items. Not interested in selling.
eBay is required by law to have the information on sellers, that's why they are asking.
They also want to release your money to you.
I don't know if they will suspend your account, if they do you can't use that account to buy with. I don't know if they will let you create a 2nd account when there is a problem with the first account.
Ugh. Thank you for the reply. They do have my debit on file, I wish they can just reimburse me through that and not anything else. Such a bummer. Thank you for responding.

Some states with lower level 1099-k requirements
AR $2,500+ gross sales
NJ $1,000+ gross sales
IL $1,000+ gross sales and 4 transactions
DC, MA, MD, MS, VA, VT $600+ gross sales

I'm sorry that happened.
