how to be able to bid when using an ebay gift card as payment

On auctions they ask for a form of payment before I'm allowed to bid and then do not give an option to enter an ebay gift card as a form of payment. How can I be allowed to bid on auctions when using a gift card?

You will need to specify a credit card or Paypal account. Then if you win the auction, you have 1 hour in which to go to ebay Checkout and pay, specifying the gift card.
