How to avoid this annoying scam?
Hi, I’m a newish seller, been posting a bunch as I clean out my closet and electronics before a move.
I’m selling some, enough I’m motivated to keep going, but I’m noticing a really prevalent scam and don’t know how to avoid it.
Basically, someone will bid in the last couple hours of an auction or make a reasonable offer. I accept, then an hour later I receive a message asking me to text outside eBay to “confirm details†blah blah blah. This is obviously a phishing scam. I tell them no, i report them, they never pay, I have to wait 48 hours before the option to cancel for nonpayment even becomes available.
What’s annoying is I don’t know how I can prevent this or do any screening. I stopped posting auctions at all but how can I screen offers to make sure this doesn’t happen? I don’t feel comfortable only doing buy it now as some of my best sales have been through the offers. The last scammer even had 8 positive feedback.

·3 years agoAs long as you do auctions and offers, not much you can do do stop it.
Best to list as a BIN with immediate payment required.
